OASSAY FlexFlow – Product Legal Disclaimer & Compliance Statement

Effective / Last Updated:  2026-06-30

1. Product Description & Positioning

OASSAY FlexFlow is a portable water filter / filtration system designed for outdoor recreation, travel, camping and emergency water supply.
It is not a water purifier in the strict regulatory or performance sense.

FlexFlow cartridges use a two-stage filtration structure:

  • Stage 1 – NanoFlex Carbon: Pre-filter for sediment, chlorine, taste, odour and microplastics.
  • Stage 2 – 0.1 µm Hollow Fiber Membrane: Ultra-fine membrane for bacteria and fine particulates.

This product is not a medical device and is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease.

2. Filtration Performance & What It Does Not Guarantee

2.1 Tested Performance (SGS)
FlexFlow filtration cartridges have been independently tested by SGS, an internationally accredited laboratory, with the following verified results:

  • Bacteria removal: ≥ 99.999 %
(tested against E. coli and other water-borne bacteria)
  • Microplastic removal:  99.99 %

SGS Test Report: NBF25-0014359-01
Test Date: 2025-08-04

2.2 Information on MS2 Bacteriophage (Virus Surrogate)
In SGS testing, our filtration cartridge also demonstrated >99.999 % removal of MS2 bacteriophage, a commonly used virus surrogate.

This is important context from a filtration mechanism perspective:

  • MS2 is physically small (≈ 0.027 µm). The nominal pore size of our membrane is 0.1 µm.
  • Virus-size particle removal therefore depends on a combination of physical sieving, adsorption and test conditions, and cannot be predicted solely by pore size.

What this means for you:
The MS2 result is a laboratory finding – it does not constitute a guarantee that all viruses (or virus-size pathogens in general) will be removed under all field conditions.
Unless and until our product is certified to a recognized microbiological purifier standard (e.g. NSF P231), we do not market or guarantee virus removal.

2.3 What This Product Has NOT Been Tested To Remove / Guarantee

  • Viruses (including norovirus, rotavirus, hepatitis A, and others)
  • Chemical contaminants (pesticides, herbicides, pharmaceuticals, heavy metals beyond what carbon adsorption may incidentally reduce)
  • Salt / desalination

For comprehensive water treatment, additional steps may be necessary depending on your local water conditions.

3. Quality Assurance & Batch Testing

Every production batch of FlexFlow cartridges is subject to two mandatory quality checks, performed by our professional filter manufacturing facility and internal lab respectively.

3.1 Air Particle Detection (In-process Check)

  • Performed during production by our filter factory
  • Standard: particle passage at 0.3 µm ≤ 10; at 0.5 µm = 0 (zero tolerance)
  • Only cartridges that pass are released for delivery; non-conforming units are discarded

3.2 Batch E. coli Culture Filtration Test (Lot Release Test)

  • Performed by our internal laboratory
  • Minimum sample size per batch: ≥ 20 cartridges
  • Test method: E. coli culture and filtration verification
  • Release criterion: 100 % pass (zero detection in filtered water)

A production batch is only released to market after both checks are passed.

4. Specifications & Operating Limits

  • Filtration rating: 0.1 µm
  • Flow rate: approx. 15–20 mL/s under normal squeeze pressure
  • Filter capacity: up to 500 L / 132 US gal (actual lifespan depends on water quality)
  • Recommended replacement interval: max. 6 months from first use
  • Unopened shelf life: 3 years
  • Water temperature range: 32 °F – 185 °F / 0 °C – 85 °C

5. Suitable & Unsuitable Water Sources

5.1 Recommended for (examples):

  • Mountain streams and lakes
  • Camping and hiking water sources
  • Well water
  • Tap water

5.2 NOT designed or recommended for:

  • Seawater or brackish water
  • Industrial wastewater
  • Chemically contaminated water (including water with known or suspected pesticide / herbicide / chemical pollution)
  • Oily water

5.3 High-turbidity water notice
Extremely turbid (very cloudy) water can completely clog the filter.
We recommend letting very turbid water settle, then using only the clearer upper portion.

5.4 Temperature
Avoid prolonged use in extreme temperatures (near freezing or above 85 °C / 185 °F).

6. Material Safety & Compliance Claims

All materials that come into contact with drinking water have been verified for FDA food contact material compliance and other applicable standards.
We are making this representation in good faith based on supplier declarations and, where available, third-party test data.

Key materials:

  • Tritan™ copolyester (cup body): BPA‑free, food‑grade, FDA compliant
  • Food‑grade silicone (seals, components)
  • Food‑grade titanium (cup / housing)
  • Titanium exterior coating: nano‑ceramic high‑temperature coating (rated to 500 °C / 930 °F, suitable for open‑flame use)
  • 0.1 µm hollow fibre membrane (PES): FDA and EU food contact standards
  • NanoFlex carbon fibre (pre‑filter): third‑party full‑elemental scan tested, compliant with applicable FDA requirements; no Prop 65‑listed substances detected

International standards we rely on for material safety:

  • FDA 21 CFR (food contact)
  • EU Regulation 1935/2004 (food contact materials)
  • REACH (EU)
  • California Proposition 65 – based on materials verification, no warning is required

Full compliance documentation available upon request.

7. California Proposition 65

Because we have independently verified that materials used in FlexFlow products do not contain substances listed under Proposition 65 at reportable levels, no Prop 65 warning is applied to this product.
